While working on the lion in my whimsical "At the Zoo" painting, I realized I really liked painting lions. I just had to do another one immediately! Off we went to the zoo again, had a great day and met a super-photogenic king of the beasts. I think he knew I had a camera in my hands...he did all the classic poses for us (and was just plain cute). I fell in love and I think it really shows on the canvas.
This one reminded us of the way our puppy, Mickey, looks when he sleeps, so I named it after him. Of course, pampas grass comes from South America and lions from Africa, but this is art – it doesn't have to make sense.
