The Wind Cedar

This painting is rather special to me. Every day I looked out my front windows, I saw this tree, so I decided it needed to be painted. I painted it twice, actually (see "Fire Cedar") Only a few months later, disaster struck in the form of a windstorm. The tree had weathered much worse winds in the past. We'll never know whether it was because of the long drought, or maybe because of the heavy load of berries that it was carrying, but that day in a mere thirty mile an hour wind, two of the tree's three trunks broke off at ground level. As a result, this painting is all we have to remember this tree by.
